Many good stories start with 'Once upon a time'. This one's no different:
Once upon a time I was a writer, producer and performer of comedy... with a day job.
Life was simple then: back when I stayed out late, dancing my socks off, and slept in late, because I could; when I cooked flamboyant desserts, complete with fancily-piped whipped cream, glazed fruit and served well-proportioned slices on glass platters; when I sang silly songs and ditties around a piano with my friends; when I wrote very bad, very deep, and very meaningless poetry.
...All that was before children.
After children I moved on to more serious stuff, like working in corporate training, then in audio engineering and music production. I also completed two degrees, and for a bit of fun, released a children's CD called Imagine that!
And then what?
Well, for the past ten years I've been running a writing, editing and training business, and teaching professional writing at Box Hill TAFE. I'm still a mother to Kate, who's 25, and 14 year old twin boys, Sam and Alex.
But wait! There's more!
Suddenly, when things started to look easy peasy Japaneasy, seven years ago I married a wonderful man called Steve, who has six children.
So in between running my business, teaching at Tafe, operating a Bed and Breakfast in a beautiful part of Victoria, and collectively raising nine children, I also managed to have my very first children's junior fiction novel, Crackpot, published.
Happily ever after, Steve and I live on five acres in an outer Melbourne suburb, along with our teenagers, chooks, cat, horse, and the occasional mob of kangaroos, just passing through.
The End.
